Teacher of English Language Learners / ESL Teacher

The Position
9th-12th Grade teacher of English Language Learners. Start date is August 2022.


Instructional Responsibilities

• Implement the Workshop Model of teaching with engaging and rigorous activities.
• Collaborate with vertical and horizontal teams to drive student success
• Provide outreach to administration and parents regarding student progress
• Collaborate with the English Department and English Curriculum Coordinator to meet the needs of our ELL students.
• Advocate for resources needed for student success

Other Professional Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety of students under your supervision
• Assist with noninstructional supervision of students, as needed, such as hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, supervision of extracurricular activities and dismissal
• Assist in moving students to proper locations during fire drills, special assemblies and events
• Keep accurate and organized records for student attendance and progress

Qualifications
Familiarity with NYS ELA standards
Fluent in Spanish or French preferred
New York State Certification preferred
Urban teaching experience or other similar experience in an urban setting preferred
Ability to collaborate well with colleagues through a student centered lens.
Ability to communicate effectively and often with parents and families

Compensation:
Salary scale dependent on experience and degrees. Salary is 3% above
DOE scale, $66345 to $101,068. Matching 401k and excellent benefits including no-cost health insurance premiums.
