    Summary

    As an Applications Engineer, you will analyze customer application requirements under the guidance of the Applications Manager for Lasertube, Press Brake, and Flat Sheet products. Your technical expertise will aid in selecting the optimal equipment for customer needs. You'll conduct demonstrations, application tests, and provide advanced technical support to sales and product teams, influencing workflow across departments.

    Essential Functions

    • Establish yourself as a subject matter expert on both BLM GROUP and competitive Tube & Wire Forming products.
    • Conduct tooling setups on Solutions Center Tube & Wire Forming machines.
    • Run sample parts per requests from sales team members.
    • Offer technical expertise to various departments to support project specifications and completion.
    • Develop sales tools for introducing new features or machines.
    • Facilitate customer software and machine demonstrations at our Solutions Center in Novi, MI and on-site at customer facilities.
    • Provide training for customers and resolve any on-site issues.
    • Troubleshoot and correct customer application problems as necessary, either on-site or at the Solutions Center.
    • Perform run-off acceptance tests at our Novi, MI facility or travel to customer sites as needed.
    • Contribute to the development of machine and software demonstration parts and strategies.
    • Present machines and software at trade shows and other events.
    • Ensure the quality condition of Tube & Wire Forming machines.
    • Conduct time studies and feasibility analyses as required.
    • Support Product Managers with advanced technical advice and solutions.
    • Build positive relationships with customers through outstanding service.
    • Collaborate with external fixture companies for the design and engineering of 5-Axis fixtures.
    • Engage in annual training in Italy to stay updated on BLM GROUP products.
    • Travel up to 30% as required by management.
    • Commit to the position for a duration of 3 - 5 years.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications

    • Associate's degree in a technical field, or equivalent military training.
    • Five years of experience with tube benders in applications such as setup, service, maintenance, or CNC programming.

    Licensing/Certifications

    • A clear driving record with no more than two minor moving violations in the last three years and no major violations in the past seven years.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities

    • In-depth understanding of CAD/CAM software and its applications.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Tube and Wire Forming tool designs.
    • Understanding of statistical evaluations and robotic cell integration.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong time management skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and customers.

    Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Vehicles Used

    • General office equipment (computers, printers).
    • Large format CNC machines.
    • Tools for troubleshooting machinery.
    • Bridge Crane and Forklift.

    Physical Demands

    Employees must meet the following demands: regular use of hands, standing, talking, walking, sitting, and lifting up to eighty pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

    Mental Demands

    Employees will utilize written and oral communication, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and must be able to manage work under deadlines while engaging with various stakeholders.

    Working Conditions

    This role primarily takes place in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise levels, alongside occasional office work. Travel is expected to be up to 30%, both domestic and international.

    The position is based at our facility in Novi, MI, which is not a remote role.

    Reporting Relationships

    This position reports to the Applications Manager, Lasertube, Press Brake, and Flat Sheet, while also working closely with the Product Manager.
