Qualifications:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience,
    OR:
  • Any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
  • Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
  • Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent community college or lower division teaching experience in Baking & Pastry Arts.
  • Minimum five (5) years of fulltime, handson experience in commercial/industrial kitchens (e.g. Luxury Hotel, Fine-Dining Restaurants, Bakeries).
  • Thorough functional knowledge of equipment, facilities, procedures, food safety and sanitation, and personnel practices in the culinary field.
  • Ability to work with computers and use the Internet and interactive technologies to engage students in oncampus and online courses, and intrinsic motivation and ability to develop and teach online courses (where academically appropriate).
