How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)

  • Maintain the branch's cleanliness and safety with a sense of urgency and prioritization (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc).
  • Communicate maintenance needs, and issues, and recommend solutions to branch directors.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks of the facilities as a means of preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure the fulfillment of goods in designated areas, such as paper towels, soap, sanitizer, etc.
  • Empty and clean wastebaskets throughout the branch.
  • Arrange equipment in the custodial storage areas in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Work closely with the Y Safety Champion and Care Area Marshal to develop intense cleaning and disinfecting protocol in closedoff areas.
  • Promote the YMCA's character values, mission, wellness philosophy, and role in the community.
  • Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests.
  • Become an Ambassador of the Y's work and culture by being the ultimate storyteller of who we are as an organization and brand.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Community Enterprise

  • 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have the ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Having experience in custodial or maintenance work settings is a plus but not required.
  • You are organized, able to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple assignments.
  • You listen for understanding and meaning. You speak and write effectively.
  • You foster a culture of inclusion and belonging. You leverage people's differences as strengths.

Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, talk, and occasionally lift and/or move items, including equipment, furniture, and/or children.

Compensation:
$ $16.00 per hour, DOE
