Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: Development Specialist: Plays a vital role in all aspects of fundraising and event management for HeartGift. The position is to assist the Development team in fulfilling short and long-term goals guided by the strategic plan, which is consistent with the organization's mission and overall strategic goals. In addition, this position will assist in sponsorship inquiries, social media, and event management/logistics. The ideal candidate must be comfortable making donation solicitations, corporate sponsors, and vendor management.
Reports to: Development Director
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Full-Time – FLSA; Non-Exempt
Work environment: Work from home, weekly in-person meeting
Work Location: Person must reside in Austin, TX
Primary Responsibilities:
Core Fundraising Responsibilities:
· Assist in managing relationships & cultivation for current and prospective donors
· Assist in donor/sponsor requests, pledges, contributions, and in-kind gifts
· Conduct research, analyze data, and compile reports for stewardship & cultivation of donors
· Assist with drafting proposals & grant applications
· Oversee and maintain the donor management system's accuracy; work in collaboration with the Senior Development Manager to achieve this objective.
· Support and educate staff on fund development goals and initiatives.
· Support with other projects deemed necessary
Core Event Management Responsibilities:
· Plan, attend, and execute events for the foundation
· Assist chapter events
· Oversee volunteers, committees, vendors, and on-site relationships
· Responsible for event database and management tools
· Responsible for the development and fulfillment of the events budget
· Cultivate and expand sponsorship development and fulfillment
· Support with other projects deemed necessary
Administration
· Responsiveness to emails and phone calls from internal and external partners promptly
· Must be able to demonstrate ability to independently lead projects from beginning to end
· Assist in the preparation of budgets
· Write effective meeting reports that summarize decisions made and actions to be taken on specific projects and assignments promptly
Collaboration
· Support and educate staff on fund development goals and initiatives
· Support and educate staff on marketing/PR goals and initiatives
· Open communication to ensure compliance with policies/guidelines
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Proficient in email/calendar/meeting request programs/remote login/Razor's Edge
· Proficient in office equipment: phone system, copy machines, etc.

Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree and/or a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a related field preferred
· 3-5 years proven track record in major gift fundraising, supervision, and leadership of a non-profit development team
· Attend events
· Represent the organization when necessary
· Some travel, nights, and weekend work required
