    SUMMARY:
    Transports students safely and efficiently to/from various Cherry Creek facilities and occasionally to other facilities.

    May be assigned to the positions of Regular School Bus Driver, Special Needs School Bus Driver, or Stand-By School Bus Driver.

    The position of Bus Driver (D.O.T.

    is classified +as "medium" work by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Drives bus to transport students over specified routes safely and efficiently.
    2. Develops and promotes good community relations among various school and community clientele.
    3. Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
    4. Reports delays or accidents.
    5.

    Performs pre/post-trip inspections to insure safe operations of vehicle and/or bus by visually or tactically inspecting all components of vehicle interior and exterior according to Colorado Department of Education Standards.

    6. Loads and unloads students at various stops and destinations.
    7. Performs student discipline activities, if necessary. This occurs before, during, and after assigned routes.
    8. Communicates information and procedures to students, office personnel and/or others in the event of an emergency situation.
    9. Performs evacuation drills as required by the Colorado Department of Education and transportation department procedures.
    10. Participates in training activities, as required.
    11. Waits at assigned locations between routes and/or between student pick-ups or at other activities/functions while waiting for students.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or equivalent desired
    2. Employer provides commercial drivers license training, Colorado Department of Education training, safety and defensive driver training, mountain driving training, and first aid/CPR training
    3. Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P and S endorsements.
    4. Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self-Insurance Pool.
    5. Must clear Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado Department of Education screenings
    6. Must have a clear/clean Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle record (3 years)
    7. Minimum 21 years old

    We cannot consider any application for bus drivers until we have an original of your Motor Vehicle Record dated within the past 30 days.

    We cannot consider any applicant whose license has been suspended/revoked within the past three years or who has had a probationary license for less than three years.

    We cannot consider any applicant who has been convicted of DUI or DWAI within the past three years.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    CDL passenger driving experience.
