About ORIS:


The Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success (ORIS) is an ethnic community-based nonprofit organization with the mission to aid in the resettlement of refugees and immigrants by providing training, assistance, resources, and opportunities that promote self-sufficiency.

ORIS's Board of Directors and staff are majority new Americans, representing 14 countries and fluent in 28 languages. The power of ORIS lies in its cultural understanding, linguistic expertise and first-hand knowledge of the immigrant experience.

We offer a wide range of programs to support new Americans in our communities, including Reception and Placement, bridging case management, services for survivors of domestic violence, employment services, farmer training, food access, and youth enrichment.


Job Summary:


The Shelter and Overlap Services Program Manager oversees ORIS's shelter services programs, along with programs that provide housing assistance, employment support, and health promotion to clients enrolled in ORIS's case management programs operating at the Worcester office.

S/he reports to the Central Massachusetts Regional Director to ensure the proper implementation of current programs and assist in the development of new programs; to responsibly manage program budgets and actively support fundraising efforts when necessary; and to appropriately manage Shelter and Overlap Services Programs staff in a way that creates/maintains a collaborative, supportive team, and empowers staff to achieve their goals.

ORIS's current Massachusetts-based Shelter and Overlap Services Programs include: Immigration Assistance Services (providing legal case management for clients in Emergency Assistance shelters in collaboration with MIRA), and Resettlement and Legal Services (providing limited legal services and case management to clients in unsupported overflow shelters).

In addition, ORIS is actively developing Refugee Health Promotion, and Permanent Housing Placement Services (shelter exit) programs.

Today, the Shelter and Overlap Services Programs team numbers 4; ORIS anticipates imminently hiring 4 additional staff members to this team.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide oversight, guidance and supervision for Massachusettsbased Shelter and Overlap Services programs and staff.
  • Support the development of new programs, including supporting policy and process design, advising on staffing capacity, and needs related to new programs.
  • Communicate with funders, sponsors, and technical assistance agencies when necessary, effectively relaying communications to relevant staff, both on ORIS's administrative team, and Shelter and Overlap Services program staff.
  • Conduct regular case review for all Massachusettsbased Shelter and Overlap Services programs, and regular case file review with all Shelter and Overlap Services program staff. Ensure that all required data and case file components are recorded in a timely, accurate, and complete manner, that all required activities are on track to successfully achieve timing and impact goals; and that all reporting deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Complete thorough, highquality, and timely programmatic reports for all Massachusettsbased Shelter and Overlap Services programs.
  • Engage refugee and immigrant communities in Worcester to develop and implement innovative and creative programs that promote community development, and address the changing needs these communities experience.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Extended Services for New Americans to develop, implement, and ensure adherence to programmatic policy and strategy, best practices, staff training, program design, and other efforts to offer highquality, clientcentered, culturally and linguisticallyspecific services.
  • Oversee the implementation of client policies and procedures in accordance with best practices to ensure the protection of clients' personal information, to review and respond to client feedback, and to ensure clients' progress toward their personal goals.
  • Contribute to ORIS's commitment to developing positive community relations in Massachusetts by fostering meaningful relationships with other organizations working with refugees and immigrants, conducting outreach to build a pipeline of volunteers and inkind donations for clients, and building partnerships with other organizations.
  • Attend required conferences, training, and meetings with Shelter and Overlap Services programs' funders, sponsors, and technical assistance agencies.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and skills by attending relevant workshops, training, and conferences; regularly review professional materials and literature.
  • Thoughtfully develop, and responsibly manage, annual programmatic budgets for Massachusettsbased Shelter and Overlap Services programs in collaboration with the Central Massachusetts Regional Director and Director of Extended Services for New Americans.
