Position Summary/Purpose of Position:


  • The University of Maryland, Division of Administration, Office of Administrative Services, Business & Financial Services unit, seeks a Financial Analyst to join their team. This position works closely with units across the division acting as a shared financial resource for divisional business and financial officers.

Maintain financial and budget spreadsheets in order to analyze financial data and prepare accurate and timely financial reports for divisional leadership.


  • Prepare and distribute accurate, concise, wellorganized, and timely financial reports, presentations, and financial information which may include financial charts, forecasting, and/or budget vs. actual variance analysis.
  • Conducts analyses and reviews all Division of Administration assigned financial accounts and expenditures to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in order to make accurate yearend revenue, expense, and surplus/deficit projections.
  • Maintain and monitor budget archives and financial data files that can quickly be accessed and manipulated to generate the needed financial information and reporting.
  • Adhere to established University's policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.

Experience:


  • Three (3) years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, data management, or data analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to keep processes moving forward and take initiative as appropriate while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent problemsolving, data mining and analytical skills; ability to identify complex financial patterns.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; high proficiency in Excel to include pivot tables, vlookup's and various other formulas and functions.
  • Proficiency with financial systems and other database systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confidence to explain work product; uses sound judgment when dealing with confidential and/or sensitive information.

  • Related experience may be substituted for education.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or businessrelated field.
  • Experience using financial, and budget & planning tools, (i.e. Workday and Adaptive Insights).
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI or other data management tools.

  • Normal office environment with extensive computer use. Fast paced environment with strict deadlines. Must be able to clearly read a computer screen for extended periods and maintain significant fine finger dexterity for keyboarding. Incumbent will occasionally travel on and off campus.
