    KalVista Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ) is focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel, oral therapies for diseases with significant unmet need, with an initial focus on hereditary angioedema (HAE). Listed on the Nasdaq Global Market, our headquarters is located in Cambridge, MA with additional offices and laboratories in Salisbury, UK; Zug, Switzerland; and Salt Lake City, UT.

    The company has an R&D team with an established track record in the pharmaceutical development of small molecule protease inhibitors, world-leading expertise in the role of plasma kallikrein in disease, and a management team with the capability to bring small molecules through the clinic to commercialization.

    KalVista now seeks a Director, Data Strategy and Commercial Data Management, which is critical to the organization's mission as it prepares to commercialize sebetralstat, a novel, oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor. KalVista recently reported positive results from the KONFIDENT phase 3 study which demonstrated that sebetralstat met all efficacy endpoints for the treatment of HAE attacks and the safety profile was comparable to placebo. We plan to submit an NDA in the first half of 2024 with launch in 2025.

    As the successful candidate for this position, you will fill a critical operating role within KalVista and be part of the Insight and Analytics Team. You will be a key member of the Insight and Analytics Leadership Team helping to develop the overall data strategy for sebetralstat. The role is responsible for the acquisition, integration, and governance of all commercial data assets and systems to enable commercial launch. This position will also lead the development of business intelligence tools to support home office and field-based reporting solutions.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement an end-to-end data strategy covering both internal and external sources (e.g., CRM, claims, sales, shipments, HUB, SP/SD, etc.) and lead data management, data governance, and business intelligence solutions
    • Design and implement Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, including data warehouse/data lake implementations to ensure a single source of truth across multiple data sources
    • Implement and enable cross functional data governance processes for management of data products and information solutions
    • Collaborate closely with Market Insights, IT, Marketing, Sales, and other internal teams to integrate data into a single platform
    • Function as business lead responsible for translating business challenges into technical solutions
    • Lead new data acquisition efforts and negotiate with third parties to access data. Proactively manage vendor relationships, oversee contract negotiations, acquire data, and define formats
    • Develop and implement Data Quality Management (DQM) processes to ensure timely, accurate, and complete data is delivered to relevant stakeholders
    • Build data marts to enable advanced analytics and support enterprise-wide business intelligence systems for self-service analytics, and data visualization (Tableau/PowerBI)
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to claims data analysis and reporting
    • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, advancements, and best practices in data management, and healthcare/life sciences

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree in similar technical discipline is a plus
    • 8-12 years of experience in commercial data management roles in a pharma/biotech company, with specialty/rare diseases
    • Strong knowledge of pharma data sources, industry regulations, and compliance
    • Project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple large scale technical projects and deliver on budget and on time
    • Ability to connect data to the overarching business questions and understand the link between brand strategy and data integration efforts
    • Familiarity with data analytics, data visualization, and machine learning
    • Experience with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure)
    • Innovative mindset with the ability to take a creative approach to best meet the needs of both customers and KalVista
