Description
We are looking for an Inbound/Outbound Inspector to ensure that all external and internal railcar repair requirements are met. You will be responsible for inspecting procedures and outputs.

You will be responsible for ensuring work is completed to standard and work with supervision to ensure timelines are met.

There is huge room for growth and upward movement in this inspector position.


Responsibilities

  • Inspect railcars to meet FRA, DOT, and customer requirements
  • Manage railcar inbound inspection to railcar final inspection to ensure compliance with quality program
  • Feel comfortable working with and editing work orders on the computer or tablet
  • Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.
  • Create and submit cost estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (customer service, plant managers, clients, etc.)
  • Ensure all legal standards and customer standards are met such as those outlined by Standard Repair Manuals and FRA Regulations
  • Positively contribute to the safety culture, highquality standards, and profitability of the company
  • Perform a variety of duties for the car life span inspection process

Skills and Qualities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Google.
  • Knowledge in Welding Processes (AWS/CW10) is a plus
  • Knowledge in Nondestructive Test methods (BT, VT, PT, UT, UTT, RVI) Certifications are a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Have vision correctable to 20/20 for inspection activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
