POSITION MANDATE


The Communications Specialist will work on the USAID-funded PSEMC project to support USAID's Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Hub within the Bureau for Inclusive Growth, Partnerships, and Innovation (IPI).

The Communications Specialist will work across a broad range of communications functions to support PSE Hub's mission of addressing development and humanitarian challenges through strategic engagement of the private sector.

The Communications Specialist will primarily support internally focused communications on behalf of the PSE Hub particularly in developing and implementing a communications strategy for the roll-out of a new Agency-wide partnership tracking system.

Tasks will include but are not limited to drafting talking points, creating and editing content for various promotional platforms, developing slide decks, assisting with the planning and promotion of events and outreach efforts, and collaborating as a strategic thought partner to effectively convey key messages to various audiences.


This is a full-time position with an expectation of in-office presence at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C., three days per week.

This expectation may change following any future changes to Agency requirements.


OUTCOMES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide broad and comprehensive communications support to the launch and rollout of a new enterprisewide Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.
  • Ensure communication messaging and materials are of highquality, accurate, appropriate, and integrated with PSE Hub priorities and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with PSE Hub staff members to plan, craft messaging, and communicate out PSE initiatives to Agency staff and partners, including USAID leadership and Missionbased staff.
  • Develop communications content and products, such as onepagers, talking points, and social media communications.
  • Copyedit and finalize marketing pieces, including websites, articles, briefings, presentations, annual reports, and other applicable forms of communications.
  • Provide internal event support for PSE Hub staff members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating, and executing integrated strategic communications strategies and campaigns that elevate engagement and awareness among target audiences online and around key announcements and events.
  • Experience managing digital communications, from conceptualizing campaigns and daily content to coordinating, implementing, and evaluating their success.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written, visual, and verbal.
  • Strong editing skills and experience translating technical language for lay audiences.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Active, or ability to obtain, a Facilities Access Clearance (FAC).

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Active FAC is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing internal communications directly for or in partnership with the U.S. Government (i.e., through an implementing partner).
  • Experience working with leadership teams to finalize communication strategies.
  • Experience communicating about private sector engagement and partnerships.
  • Work experience utilizing Google Suite and Drive including documents, sheets, and forms.
  • Experience with USAID and/or USG templates and communication style guides.

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
The employee must be able to travel domestically and/or internationally for work assignments.
