Description

Marketing Intern

Purpose: The purpose of this position is to support the day-to-day marketing needs, with an emphasis on graphic design, gaining hands-on experience and developing skills in a fun setting. The Intern will work a variable schedule (up to 31 hours per week) through November of 2024, and will receive mentorship and training from marketing professionals.

Global Leadership Network (GLN) is a nonprofit organization located in South Barrington, Illinois. Our purpose is to introduce more people to Jesus and fully follow Him. We accomplish this by serving pastors and equipping churches in order to inspire Kingdom-oriented leaders around the world through the Global Leadership Summit and other leadership development resources.

The Global Leadership Summit is attended by 60,000+ leaders in 400 sites (primarily churches) throughout the United States. The Summit is translated into 50+ languages and held in over 800 sites in 110 countries reaching over 240,000 international leaders from September to April.

Job Status: Internship, Part-time, 12-31 hrs./week, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Position Team: Marketing & Communications

Reports to: Marketing Traffic Manager

Hybrid Work Schedule: This position will be remote. Local and some remote staff have a hybrid schedule which includes working in the office Tuesday through Thursday for two scheduled Core Weeks each month and the option to work from home or in the office on Mondays, Fridays, and Tuesday through Thursdays during non-Core Weeks. Our regular workdays and office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm CT with 30 minutes for lunch.

Intern hours specifically follow this schedule:

6/3 - 8/16: 20 hrs./week

Summit Week (8/5 - 8/9): 31 hrs./week

8/19 - 11/22: 12 hrs./week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support the graphic design efforts within the marketing department to ensure brand alignment, voice, and messaging. Can include: concepting, layouts, revisions, edits, final file preparation for print and/or digital use.
Use Adobe Creative Cloud to layout and build digital files based upon brand guidelines and provided project specifications.
Provide creative graphic design solutions for projects within deadlines.
Support social media director, senior copywriter and web/email specialist with various tasks, as needed.
Participate in team meetings and provide input and ideas as appropriate.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Actively participate in one-on-one meetings with manager, team meetings, all-staff meetings, and cross-functional meetings, as needed.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Experience with creative apps in Adobe CC (After Effects, Dimension, XD, Workfront, etc.) and Figma a plus.
Experience with WordPress and Active Campaign a plus.
Innovative mindset to generate unique ideas and strategies.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

Enrolled in collegiate program for degree in graphic design or visual arts (preferred). Other can include various marketing degrees.
Detail-oriented, self-directed, creative and fully engaged within a team environment.
A vital relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and an active participant of a local church that holds to a historic, orthodox understanding of biblical Christianity.
