Job Summary and Qualifications:

As the Administrative Assistant for the Surgery department, you will provide direct administrative and secretarial support to the Director or Surgery and Surgical Services Managers.

You will demonstrate knowledge of equipment including computers, fax, and printers
You will pull relevant volume and data reports as needed from Meditech
You will receive, prioritize, research, and analyze information
You will organize and prepare data reports
You will be responsible for the Surgery Department Tissue Database and will input all relevant information ensuring accuracy and compliance
You will assist with verifying time and attendance reports and records, and correct payroll errors and reimbursements
You will schedule and attend meetings and prepare meeting minutes
You will order office supplies for the department
You will answer phones, screen and direct calls
You will check surgeon privilege status
You will assist the Board Runner in the day to day running of the surgery schedule

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

2 years of secretarial experience in an acute care setting preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology and computers preferred

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy
