  • Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's preferred. Three years of experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
    Nature & Purpose of Position
  • Assists in overseeing academic recovery programs for SHSU students on academic probation and suspension. Coordinates and delivers academic recovery courses and other interventions for students on probation and returning from academic suspension.
    Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversees academic recovery programs for students on probation or suspension. Serves as teacher of record for UNIV 2001 or UNIV 3001. Coordinates intervention processes across different academic and administrative units to help students determine the best possible success strategies for addressing academic concerns. Supports staffing, scheduling, training and development, and supervision of academic recovery team student staff in the Academic Success Center. Prepares and reviews reports on the effectiveness of program activities. Coordinates necessary meetings, room reservations and spaces. Fosters a learnercentered experience for undergraduate success by serving as one of the first lines of response in helping SHSU students address academic issues. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates programs. Advertises and informs students, faculty, and staff of academic support programs available through the Academic Success Center. Collaborates with departments/divisions across campus to represent academic recovery program information to internal and external audiences. Plans and conducts targeted outreach initiatives to engage students, increase awareness to campus resources, and promote Academic Success Center services. Makes decisions independently under the authority of the Academic Recovery Coordinator, when Director is absent. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to supervise business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies.
  • Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during offpeak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor._
