Summary


Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine daily audit procedures; ensures the accuracy of revenue financial data is recorded for financial reporting.

Areas of responsibility include the Hospitality Operations. Hospitality Operations includes, but is not limited to the Hotels, Food & Beverage, Activities, Camping, Spa, and Retail departments. Performs a variety of revenues and cash audit audits; and performs related work as required.


Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory staff and direction from higher-level staff.


Distinguishing Characteristics


This is a Staff Accountant classification in the Finance & Accounting Department, responsible for performing a variety of audit procedures.

Incumbents at this level receive frequent instruction or assistance as for their daily assignments. Work is reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.


  • Adheres to policies and procedure for the accounting functions, including compliance of all company accounting standards.
  • Assists with Accounting and Administrative controls to safeguard the assets of Catalina Island Co. by reducing theft, as well as internal fraud.
  • Performs daily revenues audits for all revenue generating departments.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly cash audits.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, annual reports such as batch reports, cash reports.
  • Prepares and analyzes various Guest Ledger & Advance Deposit reports to ensure accuracy and collection of balances.
  • Maintains record keeping, filing systems and processes daily mail.
  • Maintain & create supplement excel spreadsheets as needed.
  • Assures the effective cash handling orientation and training to be provided to all associates.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:


Qualifications

Education and Experience:


  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent; or 35 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. Hospitality experience a plus.

Knowledge of:


  • Principles and practices of recordkeeping.
  • Principles and practices for providing high level of customer service.

Ability to:


  • Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Maintain records and files on work performed.
  • Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.

Licenses and Certifications:


  • Not required.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently sits, talks, and hears; regularly uses hands.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.

Environmental Elements

  • Incumbents work in indoor environments with minimum to moderate noise levels.
  • Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.
