JOB SUMMARY:

Under mínimal supervision and the strategic direction of the Director, Facilities, oversee building system and maintenance operations in all MCASD locations.

Support mission and vision of Museum throughout performance of duties.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Supervise the maintenance, repair, replacement, and general upkeep of all equipment and properties in, on, and around MCASD's various buildings and grounds to maintain physical buildings, supportive systems, and landscaping. This includes handson activity as needed.
  • Assist in preparing departmental budgets to remain aligned with financial constraints.
  • Supervise facility maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and maintain discipline among Facilities staff members.
  • Supervise and coordinate outside contractors working on the property to ensure seamless operation of buildingrelated systems.
  • Verify performance of all contract services pertaining to maintenance (i.e., elevator maintenance, janitorial services) to ensure receipt of quality service.
  • Supervise maintenance of museum's rental properties.
  • Ensure the proper operation of emergency systems, fire detection, alarm systems, intrusion alarm systems, and ADA access provisions to maintain public and staff safety measures.
  • Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of museum equipment, including Genie lifts, facility and museum vehicles, tools, etc.
  • Train, develop, and review performance of maintenance operations and Facilities staff to set standards and procedures while ensuring adherence to Museum policies.
  • Maintain documentation of stock inventory of materials for Facilities maintenance use (i.e. light bulbs, cleaning supplies, hardware, etc.) at all locations
  • Maintain building blueprints and service manuals.
  • Work closely with MCASD's various other departments in support of overall Museum initiatives and goals while maintaining professional working relationships.
  • Maintain established work order system (PropertyTrak) to provide efficient and timely response to maintenance needs.
  • Manage Facilities inventory and equipment tracking through PropertyTrak system.
  • Supervise Facilities Technicians in the performance of their duties.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, as well as be available for afterhours emergencies as they arise.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Practical hands-on experience and working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and general construction skills; ability to manage to an operational budget; knowledge and understanding of language commonly associated with contracts, warranties, service reports, product specifications, building blueprints, and drawings; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with Facilities team, contractors, service people, and museum employees; strong computer skills with intermediary working knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel; manual dexterity to operate equipment associated with electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and general minor construction; ability to maintain composure while resolving complaints; ability to carry out physical maneuvers associated with maintenance, repair, replacement, and general upkeep of all equipment and properties, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 75 plus pounds; ability to kneel, crawl, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, and reach; ability to drive load truck; ability to operate specialized equipment, such as a forklift and scissor lift.

Bachelor's degree and five years recent, relevant experience in building maintenance or any equivalent education and experience. Supervisory experience required. Public facilities or Museum facilities experience preferred.
