Position Title:
Sandblaster Foreman


Position summary:
Set up, operate, or tend sand blast equipment to prepare surfaces to be coated

or inspected. Supervises the safe and proper operation of equipment, blasting procedures,

specifications, and standards. Trains blasting personnel in sandblast operations, department policies and

answers questions pertaining to processes. Performs blasting inspections and surface preparation

specifications using visual comparison charts and SSPC-SP standards.


Tasks:


  • Implements training of different types of cleaning procedures and conformance policies
  • Notify supervisors of needed repairs.
  • Observe operation of equipment to ensure continuity of flow, safety, and efficient operation, and to
detect malfunctions.

  • Clean, adjust and maintain equipment, using hand tools.
  • Read work orders to determine production specifications and information.
  • Reject defective products and readjust equipment to eliminate problems.
  • Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands, to ensure conformance to
established standards.

  • Dislodge and clear jammed materials or other items from machinery and equipment, using hand tools.
  • Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand
tools.

  • Move controls to start, stop, or adjust machinery and equipment that crushes, grinds, polishes, or
blends materials.

  • Tend to accessory equipment such as pumps and conveyors to move materials or ingredients through
production processes.

  • Set mill gauges to specified fineness of grind and use the proper grit screens to obtain the working
mix.

  • Record data from operations, testing, and production on specified forms.
  • Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, and/or products at specified intervals to ensure
conformance to requirements.

  • Test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment.
  • Load materials into machinery and equipment, using hand tools.

Requirements/Skills:

  • 5+ years of Sandblasting experience highly preferred.
  • Willing to travel 75% of the time.
  • Willing to help recruit and train new Sandblasting Techs.
  • Must be trained to perform work at elevated heights (bucket lifts) in facilities.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time with limited breaks.
  • Must be able to lift to 75 pounds and team lift to 150 pounds.
  • Work in extreme temperatures and elements for an extended period.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend basic drawings and scope of work.
  • Must possess basic math skills, addition, subtraction.
Must possess basic computer skills

Pay:
$ $30.00 per hour
