Job Summary:


The process controller has a critical role within the Quality Assurance team; as the main liaison between production and quality teams, the process controller serves as an active witness for all forging processes.

This role helps to ensure that forging processes are performed according to forging instructions created by the Production Planning team.

The process controller also helps communicate any forging deviations, anomalies, or errors to the Quality Assurance team.

In addition, this role will support internal heat treatment operations and other supplemental thermal operations (pre-heating, stress relief, etc.).

The process controller helps to establish a quality footprint in the production process to ensure a zero-defect production operation is maintained.

This position is classified as regular, full time, Non-Exempt. This position regularly requires overtime and occasional weekend work.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Serve as a focal point between production and quality, in efforts to establish process control and contribute to process improvement.
  • Perform process control witness of all production. Alert quality control team if process discrepancy/deviation is noted. Establish a seamless flow of communication between the production floor and quality control.
  • Contribute to meetings coordinated in efforts to drive process improvement including and not limited to bi
- monthly hot inspection meetings, spontaneous NCR meetings due to nonconforming product, etc.

  • Contribute to NADCAP accreditation efforts via oversight of internal heat treatment operations (setting furnace temperatures, operating timers, changing of furnace charts, etc.). Be a focal point in the operation of the temperature recording system (chart recorders, digital recorders, etc.)
  • Oversight of furnace maintenance and instrumentation, including and not limited to maintenance of spark plugs/ignitions/UV scanner, ensuring appropriate combustion mix, maintenance of other furnace instrumentation, etc.
  • Facilitate/conduct temperature uniformity surveys; conduct appropriate preparation of surveys via thermocouple modifications, instrumentation tuning, removal of furnace debris, etc.
  • Be a focal point for furnace troubleshooting, TUS surveys, and instrumentation on the shop floor.
  • Interface with the Quality Assurance, Production Planning, and Production teams to ensure a zerodefect production operation is maintained.
  • Adhere to personal/facility safety procedures and practices.
  • Be a focal point in communication with maintenance regarding preventative maintenance efforts for furnaces. Ensure appropriate notification is provided to the Maintenance Department regarding furnace repairs and other preventative maintenance required.
  • Contribute to the growth of the quality department as a team player. Uphold company core values and maintain positive behavior and attitude towards fellow employees and other staff.

Required Education, Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have basic math and computer skills.
  • Must be able to communicate (verbally and written) with managers and coworkers.
  • Must maintain quality practices and safety standards.
  • Must be forklift operations and safety certified (or be able/willing to be certified within 60 days).
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical information such as furnace set temperatures, soak times, pyrometer instrumentation readings, etc.
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
