Nature of Work
Assists the project superintendent with the assigned scope of responsibility; monitors and coordinates subcontractor work and, when appropriate, self-perform activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Conducts workplace inspections assessing quantity and specification/quality, percent completion by subcontractors, and safety compliance
- Coordinates and communicates with vendors, crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate timely project completion
- Assists in supervising various selfperform features of work
- Tracks jobsite labor production for selfperform work and report findings to Project Manager and/or Superintendent
- Studies plans and specifications to plan procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction
- Creates project management documentation that may include schedules, progress charts, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, jobsite controls, tracking reports, daily reports, etc.
- May have informal supervisory responsibilities through the training, coaching, or mentoring of other Project Engineers
- Exercises initiative or, as directed, performs additional duties to meet the needs of the organization
- In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will be responsible for the following:_
- Advises senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc.; assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required
- As directed, coordinates work among various subcontractors to achieve a smooth project completion
- Actively reviews the work performance to assure good quality control and make certain work conforms with plans and specifications
Qualifications
- Ability to collaborate with and function well within a teamoriented environment
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to learn new computer programs for project management / reporting purposes
Education
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a fouryear college, university, or equivalent experience
Experience
years or more of related work experience preferred
- May have supervisory responsibilities over skilled trades and/or Project Engineers
Physical Demands and Working Environment
- Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, bending or carrying of items pounds) such as plan documents, papers, books, parts, etc. There may be times of physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, climbing or similar activities. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as aboveaverage agility and dexterity. Requires a good ability to see, hear, and speak
- Standard project site environment may include machinery, parts and chemicals; may require protective gear.
