Job Overview

Specialist Child Nutrition - Personnel will serve as a liaison between the Child Nutrition Department (CND), Campus Managers, employees and various other Departments within the District.

Employee performs high level business, technology, software functions and practices required for effective and efficient operation of the Child Nutrition Department.

Creative and innovate ideas on training, orientation, time management and work simplification are under constant research.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists the CND Assistant Director of Personnel with maintaining comprehensive reports, records and compliance with current labor laws
  • Provides internal and external support for CND, Supervisors, Managers and Employees
  • Prepares and maintains records for all injury reports and all human resources leaves requested and granted
  • Maintains orientation, recruiting and marketing schedules to ensure departmental positions remain filled
  • Prepares and submits recommendations for hire to Human Resources
  • Maintains CND employee data base and manages employee absences
  • Provides assistance to Supervisors and Managers regarding personnel issues
  • Assists in preparing training materials for departmental personnel
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the webbased software including trouble shooting, testing and annual upgrades
  • Adheres to Federal, State and Local regulations regarding personnel
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with Managers, Directors, Administrators, students and parents is essential
  • Participates in professional development activities as an active member of local, state and national organizations
  • Maintains all Records Management and Records Retention duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in business office procedures, practices and use of office equipment
  • Comprehensive knowledge regarding business processes with emphasis on district local, county, state and federal regulations and reporting requirements including record retention
  • Strong organizational skills with extremely proficient communication skills both written and verbal
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in school food service functions, preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of word, excel, power point, webbased software and other office software; use of KRONOS or similar software preferred

May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
