Planner for the design
of public space

for the Office of Traffic Management

EG 12 TVöD

The Office of Traffic Management is one of the largest departments of the state capital Düsseldorf with over 330 positions and is responsible, among other things, for traffic planning in the city area with regard to the design and future-oriented dimensioning of public traffic areas.

Rethinking mobility: The city-wide goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2035 is pursued through the active promotion of local mobility and public transport. The traffic planning requirements for progressive mobility, taking into account the diverse needs of citizens, commuters and visitors to the city, must be created.

In the Traffic Planning department, with almost 30 employees, the planning foundations for the design of public space for all types of traffic on all streets, paths and squares in the entire city area are laid. There are close professional relationships with the topics of strategic mobility planning, environmental protection and urban planning. The department works closely with the traffic engineering, road construction department and the road traffic authority in the office, but also with the city's subsidiaries, such as the public transport company Rheinbahn and Connected Mobility Düsseldorf (CMD).
