    Description

    , a state-of-the-art multicultural, community-based medical and dental clinic is seeking someone who enjoys working with the public, has strong communication skills, and a desire to help others while serving the community to join their team as an NorthPoint Payroll Specialist. This position will be responsible for all functions related to payroll through our time and attendance computer software APEX.

    Location and hours:

    This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411 and remote and job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

    In this position, you will:
    • Monitor and assist supervisors to approve input for employees pay.
    • Review information for accuracy and compliance with county policies, process payroll/personnel transactions related to evaluations, promotions, salary changes, job class changes, new hire, annual stability pay, cards, transfers, employee benefits, and employment verification.
    • Assists employees with payroll and benefit questions, concerns, or errors.
    • Enter data to maintain payroll system records and various databases for appropriate sorting of payroll transactions.
    • Determine resolution of complex payroll issues and assist other staff in such matters.
    • Audit payroll runs and preparation and review payroll corrections and adjustments.
    • Completes employee action forms for all personnel transactions.
    • Ensure proper documents and forms are completed by new hires and complete new hire files.
    • Complete employment verifications.
    • Assist in implementation and/or expansion of time and attendance software and participating fully in design and implementation teams.
    Need to have:
    • One of the following:
      • Three or more years of office clerical experience.
      • 30 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
      • A combination of office clerical experience and post high school education, totaling 3 years or more (3 semester credits = 1 month).
    Nice to have:
    • Experience:
      • Working with payroll processes using the computer program APEX and SharePoint.
      • Working with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word).
      • Working with confidential information.
  • Ability to:
    • Handle multiple problems and assignments simultaneously, and to work independently with minimal direction.
    • Proofread numbers, correspondence, and other written materials for spelling, grammar, and format accuracy.
    • Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
    • Work with the general public and staff members with tact and discretion.
