FASD United (formerly the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or NOFAS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public health advocacy organization and the national voice on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

FASD United serves individuals living with FASD and seeks to educate systems of care and the public, enact policies, and unite communities everywhere.


Overview
The Affiliate Director plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission, vision, and goals of FASD United. This leadership position is crucial in ensuring a robust, impactful Affiliate network. The Affiliate Director is responsible for leading and executing the development, implementation, and evaluation of Affiliate membership growth strategies.

They also manage the day-to-day operations of the FASD United Affiliate Network member engagement, serving as the liaison for the Affiliate membership and Affiliate Executive Council to foster a strong collaborative culture within the Affiliate Network.

The Affiliate Director works closely with the FASD United leadership, staff, and the Affiliate Executive Council to support FASD United Affiliate membership and to continuously deepen and expand FASD United's impact.


Responsibilities

  • Leads the Affiliate Network's overall efforts to recruit, retain, and engage membership.
  • Collaborates with FASD United leadership, staff, and the Affiliate Executive Council to:
  • Create a roadmap for sustainable membership growth.
  • Establish short
- and long-range plans and goals to achieve organization Affiliate membership objectives.

  • Outline a datadriven Affiliate member engagement, retention, and recruitment strategy and implementation plan.
  • Develop strategies and programs to stimulate member engagement as a means of membership renewal.
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance member benefits and services offered by the Affiliate Network.
  • Develop strategies to measure and strengthen member engagement.
  • Work with both staff and members to develop and manage processes for feedback on FASD United membership, programs, and services.
  • Ongoing maintenance of all membership data, tracking, and reporting, including but not limited to:
  • Accurate membership records
  • Membership trend analysis by region
  • Recruitment and retention reports
  • Current, new, and prospective Affiliate Network member information
  • Affiliate Network member experience throughout the joining and renewal process
  • Affiliate Executive Council meeting minutes
  • Initiate and manage strategic partnerships with other related associations and groups to help recruit and retain membership, including, but not limited to, attendance at conferences to represent the Affiliate Network.
  • Works with FASD United leadership and the Affiliate Executive Council to set annual membership and engagement goals. Provides monthly insight into membership levels and engagement and tracks annual goals.
  • Coordinate the monthly Affiliate member update meetings and presentations, including meeting logistics, presenters, and notices in collaboration with the Affiliate Executive Council.
  • Serves as staff liaison to the Affiliate Network members and Affiliate Executive Council; assists the Council in the planning of meetings, development of the agenda, and in the execution of all Council activities.
  • Maintains and updates the Affiliate website with relevant data, information, and membership materials.
  • Position works closely with the FASD United Media and Communications team and with the Senior Director of Program Services.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience in membership or constituent management position preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects or initiatives that involve multiple diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in community building, growing membership, cultivating community collaborations, enhancing member experience, and strengthening member collaboration in inclusive and culturally attuned ways.
  • Living or professional experience in the field of FASD.
  • Demonstrated solutionfocused skills with diverse stakeholders, such as anticipating needs, identifying priorities, timely achievement of goals and objectives, and use of an equity lens as integral to a solution focus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail, deadlines and the ability to prioritize.
  • Strong ability with database or CRM management.
  • Strong ability in the Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
  • Experience updating information in WordPress, Squarespace, or another website platform is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of customer service.
