    Position Summary


    The Full-Stack Developer oversees all development, implementation, testing, upgrades and maintenance for the Clark's website, dynamic web applications and database systems that further the mission of the Clark Art Institute.

    This position is responsible for development of the current web and database infrastructure as well as for identifying, developing and maintaining a long-range plan for sustainable web and database systems; assists staff in exploring ideas that will enhance teaching, learning, research, communication, and administrative support through the use of databases and dynamic web applications; designs interfaces for core services and applications; coordinates and implements user-friendly navigation methods and appropriate information architecture.


    Minimum Starting Salary:
    $78,600/yr.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
    Website development and maintenanceDevelop and maintain Clark website, including on-going updates to all aspects of the site.
    Work closely with Digital Content Editor to manage wide variety of programming needs.
    Maintain liaison relationship with outside web consultants to provide continuing enhancements and ensure functionality.
    Ensure that the website has a consistent look, up-to-date information, and user-friendly navigation.
    Provide oversight and assistance for e-commerce site in collaboration with the Museum Store, as needed.
    Develop custom applications and related materials to support the objectives of individual departmental needs for website sections.
    Microsite development and maintenance.
    Create new microsites in support of every special exhibition (average 7-10 per year).
    Develop, update, and maintain special exhibition microsites for every exhibition.

    Coordinate with Communications Specialist and Digital Content Editor to schedule and manage content submissions, images, and all related support materials.

    Collaborate with curatorial and publications department to establish and manage development schedule for each site and ensure delivery of live, finished microsites prior to the exhibition opening.

    Develop and maintain accessible archives of microsites and appropriate webpages (press releases, RAP lectures, etc.).
    Maintain on-call availability (24/7/365) for critical website-related needs, such as site outages and emergency messaging.


    Database management & supportWork with IT staff and other stakeholders to coordinate and manage supporting databases and related programs to maximize functionality of the Clark's website, including ticketing, interactive applications, video, and library search functions.

    Oversee all system and security-related issues for the website and related support databases. Work in collaboration with the IT department to identify, manage, and solve all on-line security issues.
    Provide database management & support for Gallery Systems TMS, the Clark's collections database system.
    Provide database management & support for other enterprise systems including MIP Fund Accounting, Sage HRMS, and Raiser's Edge 7.

    Partner with IT staff and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain a long-range plan for sustainable and secure web and database systems.


    Collections, Exhibitions, and Experience PlatformsTake primary responsibility for the development, management, implementation, and maintenance of computer-based interactive projects for the website and for in-gallery experiences.

    Develop custom applications and related materials to support the objectives of individual departmental needs for website sections.
    Provide general support for Gallery Systems eMuseum and TMS program issues, particularly as they relate to the Clark website.

    Training, Documentation, & SupportProvide website editor training and support documentation for stakeholders.
    Develop and maintain thorough documentation for all assigned systems and tasks.
    Cross-train IT and Communications staff to provide supplementary training and support.

    Consultation & PlanningWork on multi-departmental teams to evaluate and recommend future web and database initiatives.
    Keep apprised of current and new technologies.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education, Training, and Skills
    High school diploma or equivalent required
    Bachelor's degree in web design, computer science, or related field preferred.
    Kentico (or similar) administration
    Programming languages such as Python and JavaScript
    Web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, etc.
    SQL database management and reporting
    Testing, debugging, accessibility, and version control tools
    API development/management
    eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Counterpoint)

    Work Experience
    Minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred.
    Museum, education, or nonprofit experience preferred.
    Experience with event ticketing, memberships, and event management preferred.
    Vendor management experience preferred.

    The position requires working at desk and using a computer for prolonged periods of time.

    Work Environment:
    Work will usually be performed in an office environment and museum spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
