    JOB SUMMARY: The DAHS Aide will assist in the coordinating and implementation of meaningful therapeutic activities on a daily basis, based on a participant's individual needs and interest, in accordance with current standards, guidelines/regulations and procedures.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist the Activities Director and Sr. DAHS Aide with scheduled activities to include physical exercise and social/recreational activities, in either a group setting or one on one basis.
    • Assist participants to and from the activity program and participate in community integration field trips, as scheduled.
    • On a daily basis, serve and distribute meals and snacks, as needed.
    • Assist with evaluating each participant according to his/her background, activity interest, abilities, physical limitations, and the need for meaningful daily activity.
    • Provide protective supervision through observation, assistance and monitoring of the site.
    • Provide personal care services to assist with activities of daily living, based on participants documented needs and abilities, as per the Plan of Care.

    • Attend and participate in continuing education, staff meetings, in-service training programs and other meetings as assigned.
    • Abide by all safety policies as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual.
    • Participate in the agency's Quality Improvement Program.
    • Performs other duties related to the position, as required.
    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Elder Care Program annually using Employee Performance Evaluation (CDB Form 1059) and Competence Assessment Checklist (CDB Form 1043) wherein a satisfactory overall rating is considered as a minimally acceptable level of performance.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Experience: -Demonstrate competence with the special needs of the geriatric population.

    Maintain Current CPR Certification.

    Current Food Handlers Certificate preferred.

    Other: Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish
