Salary/Classification:
Wage is contingent upon education/experience; part-time grant funded one year position with potential to become full-time


Supervisor:
Senior Director of Education and Vice President of Education & Operations Officer


The Family Development Specialist will provide personal instruction, demonstrate appropriate educational activities; and deliver research-based printed materials to parents regarding child development and related issues.

Will also conduct child developmental screenings including but not limited to vision, hearing, the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, health and physical development for children birth to age 18 months.

This will be completed through providing education in the form of personal home visits, group meetings, screenings, and linkages to a network of resources for parents and children.


Responsibilities:


  • Schedule, conduct and document regular home visitation sessions with participating parents and their children to deliver a curriculum designed to teach basic parenting skills and child development.
  • Collaborate with community partner agencies to access services for participating families.
  • Complete required paperwork, documentation and grant reports for home visitation and school-based programs.
  • Attend all required meetings
  • Support and enhance the Parents as Teachers program
  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating results of annual parent surveys and other evaluative measures
  • Attend required certification training and become certified as a Family Development Specialist
  • Maintain a case load of assigned families by providing monthly home visits
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned within the scope of the Parents as Teachers program
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Language:_ Fluent in English with ability to speak fluent Spanish preferred
  • Education:_ High School diploma or Associates Degree in Social Work with 2 years experience preferred
  • Skills:_ Demonstrated leadership and management skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Exceptional public speaking skills, training and facilitation experience; Computer knowledge and skill in Word and Excel; Strong time management and prioritization skills; Flexibility;
Demonstrated relationship development and maintenance skills; Volunteer management experience; Using Microsoft Excel and Word to merge letters, envelopes, etc.

  • Proficiencies:_ Effective strategic thinking, planning and collaborative problemsolving abilities; Proven program and project planning, development and evaluation; Demonstrated relationship development and maintenance skills; Volunteer and staff management experience; Excellent Multitasker.

Job Type:
Part-time


Pay:
$17,500.00 per year
