    ams-OSRAM group is a world leader in creating optical solutions in sensing, illumination, and visualization.     We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering and Automation Specialist for our development team for ceramic/glass/polymer/composite materials used for LED applications. This position will be in the Exeter, NH location, which is the center of excellence for ceramic, glass and composite components within ams-OSRAM. Those who join this operation will be involved with state-of-the-art materials and processes. Applicants should hold a minimum of an Engineering B.S. degree, preferably in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering with 5 to 10 years engineering experience in industry.

    The successful candidate will join a skilled and motivated team in advancing current capabilities, introducing new or modified equipment and processes, and implementing new technologies in production. There will be extensive interaction between research and development, engineering, plant management, and production employees on the shop floor for the industrialization and qualification of new products and new processes, and for ongoing improvement of the equipment used for the manufacturing processes and their efficiency.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
    • Developing and/or modifying high-speed automation for handling and inspecting new products
    • Improving the performance of new and existing automation for increased rate, utilization and yield
    • Assisting with the qualification of equipment for production through the APQP and Gate Structures
    • Interacting with customers to gain their support for equipment and process changes
    • Demonstrating process capability and generating cost estimations for CapEx approval
    • Coordination with project team members, engineering, production, and quality as required
    • Processing of samples for a wide range of projects and special requests
    Who we are looking for

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
    • Seeking a minimum of 5+ years engineering experience in industry
    • Expertise with the mechanical systems in complex automation
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
    • Competence in 6-sigma methodologies including DOE
    • Good organizational and communication skills, written and verbal
    DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
    • Development and optimization of equipment for high-volume production
    • Handling and processing of small components, particularly for optical applications
