This is positions performs highly responsible administrative accounting work and coordinates various departmental programs, projects, procedures, and systems. Work is generally governed by broad instructions and objectives involving frequently changing conditions and problems.


Essential Functions and Duties:


  • Performs various departmental accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Researches, gathers, and analyzes data. Prepares related reports and summaries as needed.
  • Assists in coordinating departmental data bases and other systems and records. Performs timely data entry and system maintenance to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinates and administers assigned departmental programs and projects.
  • Provides information and responds to internal and external inquiries; advises on departmental programs and related policies and procedures.
  • Assists staff with college and departmental events.
  • Maintains confidentiality of restricted information.
  • Reconciles financial reports, accounts, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with Accountants and Finance Management.
  • Reconcile expenditures and assist Accountant regularly to prepare revenue requests to be submitted.
  • Assists Accountant in the development of budgets as needed.
  • Prepare adhoc accounting reports as requested.
  • Maintain knowledge of State and Federal regulations pertaining to fiscal operations.
  • Attend seminars/classes as needed for professional development.
  • Maintain regular attendance/punctuality.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and reacts with professionalism at all times when dealing with both internal and external customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:


  • Experience with Office suite type products including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Banner ERP (or similar) and accounting software preferred.
  • Good organizational skills, with special attention to details. Must be able to multitask.
  • Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to establish effective rapport with students, internal and external customers.
  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently on broader assignments with the responsibility for the planning of work.
  • Ability to research records and procedures independently.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

Working Conditions/Additional Information

  • This position is a fulltime oncampus position located at our Winter Haven campus, but will travel to event locations as necessary. (Remote/hybrid options are not available.)
  • Weekend and evening work may be required on occasion.
  • Position may be required to work during College closures (such as winter/spring break and inclement weather closures).

Salary and Benefits Information

  • This position is a level C

Required Education:

Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent).


Preferred Education:

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Required Experience

Three years of related experience in accounting or finance. Associate's Degree in Accounting (or related field) can be substituted for 1 year of experience. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or related field) can be substituted for 2 years of experience.
