The city of Highland Park, NJ is currently seeking a City Planner (m/f/d) to join their team at the City Planning Office as soon as possible.

The position is classified in pay group 11 according to the TVöD (Collective Agreement for the Public Service). It is a permanent part-time position with a regular weekly working time of 19.5 hours.

Your main tasks:

Development of building plans and other urban planning regulations, including process management
Conceptual planning within the framework of overall and partial urban development (e.g. neighborhood concepts)
Creation of urban design drafts and master plans, with a special focus on city design
Evaluation of individual projects based on design and urban planning criteria, including building permit procedures

Your qualifications:

Completed degree in urban planning, spatial planning, urban development or comparable fields
Indepth knowledge of building planning law
Experience in urban planning
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in common office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn new software
Previous experience in public administration is an advantage, but not a requirement
