Description
Position SummaryPosition requires excellent working knowledge of I&C detail design and engineering techniques, Responsible to plan and conduct independent work that requires judgment in evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Reporting to I&C Discipline Manger while maintaining a very close relation with Electrical Disciplines and interfacing with clients, vendors, construction companies and third-party engineering companies.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesTypical duties will include but not be limited to:
Interface with Vendors on Instrumentation and Control System,
Preparation, review and approval of I&C detail engineering and design, drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs
Hands on experience in handling medium scale (green field and brown field) automation projects based on PLC/ DCS/ SCADA systems including system hardware and software design, system configuration and programming (graphics, logics and complex control loop development).
Through knowledge and experience in preparation of control system architecture, control system specifications, technical bid evaluation and vendor document review of PLC and DCS based control systems.
Experience in conducting Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Integrated FAT (IFAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) for Control Systems.Experience in site support for control systems during commissioning and start up.
Functional Safety Certification would be an added advantage.
Exposure to Honeywell /Emerson / Allen Bradley - PLC / DCS systems is an added advantage.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Interface with Customer and Vendor on DCS / ICSS / SIS system.
Prepare, supervise, review and monitor the development of equipment and material specifications and data sheets, Instrument Index, Input & Output Lists, Bill of Quantities, Block Diagrams, cable routing, control room layouts, Loop Diagrams, Wiring Termination Diagrams, Loop drawings, Installation Hook-up Drawings, Instrument Plot Plans, Cable Tray/Trench Lay-outs, Cable Schedules, JB schedules, Interconnection Schedules and Installation detail drawings.
Prepare, review, organize the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDCs), co-ordinate with other engineering discipline in the integration of data inputs.
Interact with Quality Control for quality issues; strictly ensure compliance with Company's ISO Quality procedures.Prepare, review and supervise the preparation of technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors; participate in the technical evaluation of vendor bid offers.
Complete, review and provide guidance in the Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents.Prepare, coordinate Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of instrument and materials. Ensure materials are obtained within scheduled timeframes and budgeted costs.
Interface and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, conduct internal staff meetings, ensure the progress of project in accordance to schedule, allotted man hours and budgeted costs.
Job RequirementsPreferred Education and Relevant Experience/Training:
Bachelor's Degree in Instrument Engineering with 10 to 15 years of related petrochemical experience preferable from a background in working for consultancy organizations in the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
Thorough knowledge I&C engineering/ design for large scale industrial / oil and gas projects.
Thorough in-depth knowledgeable of international standards, International Electro technical Commission (IEC), National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC), IEEE and API Standards
Ability to handle multiple tasks on multiple projects while maintaining schedule, budget and quality.
Experience in working in multi-cultural, multiple discipline office on projects with Oil & gas and/or Petrochemical Clients.
Thorough knowledge on Hazardous area classification and selection of equipment.
Thorough knowledge of safety instrumentation and function, certification will be added advantage.
