Description:

Reports to the supervisor of Surgery Support and works under the direction of the charge nurse or supervisor of the department to which they are assigned.

Provides support to the clinical team in the provision of surgical and procedural care. Assists by cleaning rooms and equipment, procuring and storing equipment, room set up and opening sterile supplies. Responsible for the transport and hand-off of specimens to lab. Performs high level disinfection of endoscopes and other equipment. Provides transportation and other assistance with patient care under the supervision of the circulator. Works as a member of the procedural team.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Education:
High School Diploma required. Some college preferred.

Licensure/Certification:
No license required. CPR Certification.

Experience:
One year of hospital experience. Bedside experience and/or sterilization experience preferred.

Other Job Requirements:

Requires the ability to work in a team and employ effective communication skills. Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position (i.e.

to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push/pull patients, wheelchairs, carts and equipment and perform for long periods of time in surgical PPE.

Requires flexibility in work schedule including weekends.
