Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Referral Coordinator. As a Referral Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating patient referrals within a medical office setting. This is a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of patient care and maintaining accurate documentation.


Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and process patient referrals from primary care physicians to specialists or other healthcare providers
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for referrals
• Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies to ensure timely and accurate referral processing
• Maintain referral records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Collaborate with medical coders to ensure proper coding of referrals
• Assist in scheduling appointments for patients with referred providers
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing any questions or concerns related to their referrals
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical records related to referrals
• Stay updated on medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Previous experience in a medical office setting, preferably as a Referral Coordinator or similar role
• Knowledge of managed care processes and insurance authorization requirements
• Familiarity with medical coding systems (ICD10) and terminology
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations

Hours will be distributed Monday through Friday in the afternoon, early evening, and Saturday.

$15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
