The **Buyer-Planner** 1 is responsible for the day-to-day requisition of raw materials, maintaining optimum inventory levels by monitoring and processing Purchase Orders and Distribution Orders, and operating within the applications]to facilitate strategic purchase positions. This is a corporate position responsible for managing supplies of one or more raw material procurement groups within the North American facilities. Determines supply positions to streamline inventories through purchase strategies and distributional relationships.
Monitor, release, and process Purchase Orders and Distribution Orders
Confirm, monitor, follow-up, and expedite as necessary to meet demand requirements
Manage dates for accuracy, utilize 3PL/ reports (ASN)
Responsible for planning parameters for assigned procurement groups
Forecast and plan assigned commodities at the SKU level.
Determine intercompany distribution relationships (manage DO relationships on responsible raw materials)
Manage excess and/or obsolete
Provide transactional support for claims/returns
Monitor and report key performance metrics, including inventories, shortages, and supplier performance
Able to work is complex and varied and requires the selection and application of technical and/or detailed guidelines. Moderate analytic ability is needed to gather and interpret data where results/answers can be found after analysis of several facts.
Develop thorough working knowledge of assigned commodities and associated supplier base.
Develop mutually beneficial, respectful, and effective relationships with peers to ensure seamless coordination between departments, maximize synergy, and maintain a shared vision, strategy, and focus.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
**Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:**
Two-year college degree, or equivalent experience, along with a commitment to ongoing professional education. Professional designations, such as APICS certifications in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management are a plus.
One to Three years' experience in raw material planning, scheduling, purchasing or related competency
Work is substantially complex and varied and requires the selection and application of technical and/or detailed guidelines. Moderate analytic ability is needed to gather and interpret data where results/answers can be found after analysis of several facts.
Knowledge of ERP/MRP Planning
