Description

The Folk Arts-Cultural Treasures Charter School, a National Blue Ribbon school in the Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia, has an opening for a 1st grade elementary teacher for the school year.

This is a long-term substitute position that will be available from August 28, 2023 through March 1, 2024

Position Summary


Teachers are responsible for ensuring student achievement and learning by delivering appropriate and effective instruction to all assigned students and by providing students with the support and guidance they need to succeed.

Teachers are expected to challenge, inspire, and actively engage students in their own learning process by teaching both for content and for critical thinking and life character development.

Teachers work collaboratively and coordinate instruction and assessment with other staff members. Regular and predictable attendance are essential functions of this position. A full job description can be found on our school website.


Qualifications

  • Understanding of and support for FACTS' mission is required
  • Excellent planning skills, computer proficiency and word processing skills are required
  • Genuine desire to work cooperatively with colleagues and the capacity to work effectively with diverse populations is required
  • Experience in differentiated instruction and collaborative teaching is preferred
  • Successful relevant teaching experience in an urban school setting is preferred
  • Fluency in another language in addition to English is a plus
  • Additional ESL and/or Special Education certification(s) a plus

Pay:
$47, $84,000.00 per year
