The Theater Oberhausen sees itself as an open house of contemporaneity: In addition to the evening schedule, which combines big stories with a political stance in an emotional contemporary theater, the Open House department serves as a center for mediation and networking.

With the Young Theater and the focus on Urban Arts, which integrates productions of urban arts into the repertoire, the city theater sees itself as interdisciplinary and diverse in its aesthetic forms.
