    IT Configuration Engineer | Cloud Application

    Location: 5000 Kansas Avenue Kansas City, KS 66106

    Department: Information Technology

    AWG is in search of the best IT Configuration Engineer to support our strategic, business-transformation cloud projects in IT service and support. This role assists with the prioritization of needs and serves as a liaison between AWG employees, vendors and retailers that use AWG's enterprise systems and applications.

    This role will work closely with leadership and internal customers as we enhance and support our technology applications to develop and implement cloud-applications, migrate existing on-premises applications to the cloud, and debug cloud stack, using business process understanding, appreciation for simplicity and quality, critical thinking, and determination to deliver solutions that exceed business and technology objectives.

    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or related degree, or experience.
    • Minimum 8 years of cloud application configuration engineer experience.
    • Experience solving business issues through cloud solutions and best practices.
    • Understand requirements and provide one or more solutions using Cloud best practices.
    • Have experience designing integrations with different systems using web services and middleware.
    • Improve and build solutions to address architectural gaps or technical debt.
    • Direct experience with developing, configuring, and implementing successful Cloud projects & application enhancements.
    • Experience monitoring the performance of cloud-based systems and optimizing resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and high availability; including troubleshooting and resolution of issues that may arise.
    • Experience implementing security measures like encryption and access controls and regularly auditing the cloud environment to ensure compliance.
    • Experience conducting technical solution reviews and providing recommendations for improved adoption and usage.
    • Experience providing excellent oral and written communication to a diverse audience.
    • Solid experience with full SDLC - requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment using waterfall and/or agile methodologies.
    • Experience working in a multi-team, Information Technology organization.
    • Proven experience within responsibilities listed above.
    Knowledge & Skills:
    • Knowledge of Cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, cost frameworks, trends and industry-leading private/public/hybrid cloud vendor offerings and interoperability.
    • Working knowledge of programming languages, such as Python, Java, or C#.
    • Experience in retail, supply chain, or grocery industry.
    • Consulting or professional services experience
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized while keeping pace with the rapidly evolving cloud landscape.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple technologies over career and ability to learn new technologies.
    • Ability to work as a committed member of a cross-functional team, sharing ideas and inputs from different perspectives in working towards delivering an exceptional product experience.
    Responsibilities:

    Application (50%)
    • Serves as the subject matter expert in the design, migration/implementation of cloud-based applications in alignment with business requirements and IT.
    • Implement security measures like encryption and access controls and regularly audit the cloud environment to ensure compliance.
    • Lead test plan and test script development, as well as test execution activities.
    • Monitor the performance of cloud-based systems and optimizing resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and high availability; including troubleshooting and resolution of issues that may arise.
    • Conduct technical solution reviews and provide recommendations for improved adoption and usage.
    Collaboration/Communication (25%)
    • Collaborate with business partners to understand their business problems or needs and desired outcomes.
    • In collaboration with other members of the team and user community, configure cloud-based capabilities that enable the AWG community.
    • Communicate priorities to the technology organization to drive effective business solutions.
    • Maintain verbal and written issue identification and status updates to cross-functional teams and leadership.
    Vendors (25%)
    • Responsible for the lifecycle solutions, from selection to implementation, including software enhancements, upgrades, and issue resolution.
    • Build cooperative relationships with vendors to ensure in-depth understanding of functionality, application roadmap, feature enhancement and outage windows.
    • Drive resolution with technology vendors when support is needed.
