What You Will Do:


As a
Development Analyst , you will be responsible for providing analytical sample processing and data review to support SOS SM Services initiatives.

The incumbent uses a variety of analytical techniques and wet chemistry to process oil, fuel, and source water and/or coolant samples submitted by customers.

Engineers and dealers use results to manager equipment preventative maintenance.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate across all shifts to provide a smooth transition of data review and processing to meet daily turnaround times.
  • Leveraging a variety of analytical and wet chemistry techniques to process oil, fuel, and coolant samples from all heavy equipment manufacturers across the globe.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Adhering to all quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Daily tasks may include the following: Sample Prep and Handling (receipt to disposal), Material Inspection, Data review and LIMS transfer, Viscosity Analysis, FTIR Analysis, Gas Chromatography, Titrations, ICP Analysis, Instrument Troubleshooting, Preparation of Reagents and Standards, daily instrument validation.
  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from timetotime.

What You Have:

Planning (Tactical & Strategic):Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Contributes to short-term operational plans. Anticipates and adapts to plan changes. Monitors progress of work against plan as required to meet objectives. Reports variances and makes agreed-upon corrections. Under guidance, develops tactical plan for own direct responsibility.

Quality Management:Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. Utilizes quality indicators relevant to own unit or function. Adheres to organizational quality management processes and practices. Applies key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluates impact on quality. Uses quality evaluation tools and techniques such as walkthroughs and inspections. Works with quality assurance methods, tools and techniques.
