Environmental Services Technician Full-Time (Eastern Long Island Hospital)

(FLEX SHIFTS CAN INCLUDE 6A-2P,8A-4P,9A-5P, 7P-11A, 3A-11P, 11A-7P)


Position Description:

Daily cleaning and supplying patient rooms, wards, nursing stations, lounges, lavatories, bathrooms, offices and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the department and in accordance with hospital objectives.

Will use cleaning devices including wet wops, wringers, dusters, vacuum cleaners and other necessary tools, chemicals and supplies. Receives deliveries, unpacks, stores, and distributes items as necessary. Inventories and fills supply carts. Prepares materials, documentation and equipment for shipping.


Experience:
Environmental services/general housekeeping cleaning duties and procedures experience. One to two (1-2) years of experience with disinfection processes, use of mop/bucket and microfiber materials. Experience in use of Roto floor scrubber and power washer preferred. Wet vac use experience preferred.


Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to follow work assignment sheet, and complete daily paperwork mandatory. Valid NYS driver's license required.


Physical Demands:
May be met with the aid of mechanical devices. They are those mínimally necessary for the safe completion of duties. They are not intended to discriminate against handicapped persons, only to ensure safe working conditions for all persons.

Mechanical devices may not be such that they interfere with normal safety aids (modified if necessary) such as safety goggles, hearing protection, etc.

Good Vision and hearing. Fully mobile on steps, ladders, etc.

Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms (and mechanical Substitutes) to safely operate department related equipment such as a mop, wringer, housekeeping carts, vacuums, etc.

Able to bend, stoop and lift 45 lb objects.

  • Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises.
  • This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
  • This function/position maybe designated as "essential." This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and related facilities.
  • Successfully complete preemployment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton's Employee Health Services
  • Successfully complete a 4panel drug screen
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for preemployment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
