Vital Research partners with local and state governments, non-profits, foundations, corporations and others to evaluate the implementation and impact of social programs.

We are currently recruiting for a
Research Associate II to manage and assist in the coordination and implementation of research and evaluation projects across several focus areas, including aging & disabilities, community services, education, and health.

Responsibilities include drafting of materials and protocols, participating in multi-site data collection activities, entering data, providing field support, report writing, and other project tasks and activities.


As a Research Associate, RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Manage large-scale survey projects that involve complex planning, coordination, presentation delivery, and resource requirements.
  • Oversee multisite data collection, entry, management, analysis, survey testing, and reporting of data.
  • Conduct literature reviews.
  • Draft instruments and data collection protocols.
  • Coordinate and participate in data collection activities (e.g., survey programming, administration, case studies, quality checks, training, etc.).
  • Enter quantitative and qualitative data and perform basic data analysis.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data by auditing and correcting data errors to ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Create codebooks.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards.
  • Assist with writing reports and proposal creation utilizing data visualization.
  • Present internally and to clients and participate in stakeholder/client meetings, take effective meeting minutes, and distribute among the team.
  • Communicate with field staff and provide technical support and coordination.
  • Write externalfacing briefs, articles, blog posts, etc. for different audiences and publications.
  • Communicate with clients to identify needs, answer technical questions about the data and reports, and provide consultation, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

This opportunity might be for you if you meet the following REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in social science (e.g., education, gerontology, public health, sociology, psychology, etc.).
  • 4+ years related experience in the research and/or evaluation field; mixed methods experience is a MUST.
  • Understanding of fundamental research and evaluation principles, field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven leadership skills and exceptional track record in client management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, problemsolving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote work environment, work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Solid working knowledge of relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Two years of supervisory experience overseeing a team of two or more
    highly desired.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
