Description
The Director of Jewish Lifelong Learning has direct responsibility for the fiscal and administrative management of the Jewish Studies division within the Laura and Alvin Siegal Lifelong Learning Program.
The director will advise, plan and implement a diverse and comprehensive array of programs and services that have the common goal to enhance the academic, programmatic, financial and overall success of the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at Case Western Reserve University.
The director serves as the public face of the Jewish Lifelong Learning program, creating a professional and scholarly image through all teaching and communication with the public, active participants and other stakeholders.
The director is responsible for the development, provision and evaluation of programs and services, which connect Jewish Lifelong Learning opportunities to the community in Northeast Ohio; particular emphasis is placed on providing visionary and dynamic leadership for short- and long-term planning in the areas of cultivating active program participants.
The director shares responsibility with the Associate Provost for decisions regarding resource development and marketing.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and oversee courses, lectures and services that complement the mission and strategic goals of the university and the Lifelong Learning Program.
Create, plan and execute high quality programs. Utilize institutional resources effectively and efficiently in accordance with university guidelines.Manage divisional budget including purchasing, monthly reconciling, quarterly forecasting expenditures, and revenues and balancing the budget by the year-end close.
Identify and cultivate local instructors and lecturers, and recruit national lecturers, teachers and speakers for the Jewish Lifelong Learning program.
(20%)Maintain and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, individuals and community organizations.
Demonstrate concern for understanding and satisfying needs of customers, co-workers and others with economy, efficiency, flexibility, courtesy, good judgment and continuous measurable improvements.
Regularly solicit feedback regarding quality of/and ways to improve services. Maintain and foster collaborative relationships with the local and regional Jewish community and cultural organizations. (10%)The director will work closely with University Relations and Development leadership and the assigned development officer to identify, cultivate and solicit donors, alumni, and community members for financial support for the Lifelong Learning program including grant applications with local and national funders.
(10%)Train, mentor and supervise staff; define and assign individual tasks, maintain schedules and standards, conduct timely performance reviews and administer disciplinary action.
Develop employee(s) confidence in their ability to be successful by meeting on a regular basis; share information and guide employees to make decisions that will achieve objectives and resolve issues in their assigned areas of responsibility.
Collaboratively identify professional and self-development plans.Maintain a work environment that is marked by respect for others, values inclusiveness, builds workforce diversity and fosters cooperation and teamwork.
(20%)Develop goals and assessment plans in response to the divisions/departments mission and strategic goals and divisional outcomes in conjunction with the associate provost.
Establish processes to identify, collect, analyze and report on enrollment, retention and financial efficiency. (10%)Oversee development of a marketing plan that highlights the department's unique purpose and voice, including appropriate social media strategies by evaluating divisional objectives and resources.
