Description
Controls Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)Overview
This position is responsible for all activities related to the implementation of new capital, tooling fixtures, continuous improvement, and maintenance.
MIG, spot and resistance welding, assembly etc. Position may also be required to assist automation and secondary process departments with specific tooling programming needs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Support the Companys mission, vision and values in performance of daily activities
Maintain PLC based control systems for manufacturing, automation, and instrumentation
Program PLC ladder logic from start to finish
Lead projects and assist skilled trades in electrical disciplines
Support operations in electrical/controls troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities
Generate wiring schematics and control drawings with AutoCAD, maintain all plant electrical prints
Work closely with engineering team to define system control needs
Select industrial control components and assist with MRO crib
Guide design, develop and test electrical control methods, materials, processes and results
Train, coach, and mentor the electrical controls process for controls engineers, manufacturing and skilled trades colleagues

Education and Experience
To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:
Stamping and Assembly manufacturing experience in the auto industry strongly preferred
Five (5) or more years of experience working with all A-B Rockwell PLC/
HMI family of products
Five (5) or more years of experience working with FANUC ArcTool
Five (5) or more years of experience working with FANUC SpotTool
Five (5) or more years of experience working with Kuka KRC 4 controllers would preferable
Three (3) or more years of experience working with WTC (RAFT) an DEPs
Additional Skills Required:
To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following skills are required:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Must also be able to understand basic electrical schematics
