Sr. Project Engineer Controls - Yorkville, IL, Topeka, KS, Waco, TX
This Regional Project Engineering Role will be a part of the MW NA Regional Engineering Controls & IT Team.
The individual in this role will be responsible for all aspects of planning and executing projects from ideation to project closure.
The scope of the role could include leading and/or supporting projects in the areas of electrical, controls, Factory IT, and Digital Plant Technology systems depending on business needs.
The role owns the overall leadership of controls & IT projects via the MWC Engineering Execution Standard.This role will be based out of (Hackettstown, NJ; Elizabethtown, PA; Chicago, IL; Yorkville, IL; Cleveland, TN; Chattanooga, TN; Gainesville, GA; Waco, Tx; or Topeka, may require significant travel %) to most of our major sites across North America.
Depending on your home base will determine travel. Most projects are located in Yorkville, Topeka and Waco.What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree is required for consideration.
A degree in
Controls/Electrical/Electronics
is preferred, including courses in Computer Science.
5-10 years' experience in a comparable technical position - food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable.
Basic understanding of engineering principals - knowledge of engineering disciplines" Process, Packaging, Electrical Construction, or Computer Services
In-depth understanding of designated functional engineering area of expertise (for specific job requirement, i.e. controls, factory IT, digital plant, process, and packaging)
Team skills - high performance team experience
Approximately 30-50% travel requirement depending on project demands
What will be your key responsibilities?
Responsible for
the development of control systems for automating manufacturing processes and packaging systems
delivering projects to the business that provides a competitive advantage.
Control Systems design, which includes
developing control concepts
program design
functional and equipment specifications
instrumentation selection
operator interface development.
Directing the modifications and installation of systems in the following areas
electrical and power distribution
control systems
Factory IT (servers, networks, Wi-Fi, etc.)
Digital Plant Technology systems.
Developing industry and product specific relevant technical skills
Developing personal effectiveness and functional interpersonal competencies
Motivating fellow associates by high quality solutions that protect the integrity of our product
Providing innovative Engineering solutions that drive a competitive advantage
Ensuring delivery of assigned objectives for scope, time, budget, and cash flow
Maintaining the project adherence to scope, deliverables, and critical success factors
Communicating with the project steering team to ensure project objectives are achieved
Seeking and applying appropriate technologies to gain and a sustain technical competitive advantage
Supporting initiatives that shorten new product and project cycle times
Seeking and supporting lean ways of working and applying lean principles in the engineering process and as a project deliverable
Understanding and making decisions to improve business metrics, such as Return on Total Asset earnings (ROTA), Fixed Asset Turnover Ratio (FATR), Economic Profit (EP),etc.
Continuously improving their technical knowledgeDesigning systems and selecting hardware and/or directing third-party engineering and/or system Integrator firms providing design services to meet their contract deliverables
Improving personal efficiency and performance to provide value added engineering
Being a key member and contributor of the Commissioning, Validation, and Start Up (CVS) Team
Actively participating in the development of engineering standards and tools
Supporting safety, security and environmental policies
Contributing innovative ideas to provide competitive advantage
Identifying, protecting and expanding intellectual property of corporation
Maximizing asset utilization through value added engineering and lean design
Supporting project objectives and challenging activities not aligned with those objectives
