- Pre-procedure Assessment: Conduct thorough pre-procedure assessments of patients scheduled for electrophysiology procedures. Review medical histories, assess vital signs, and ensure appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostic studies are completed.
- Patient Education: Provide comprehensive education to patients and their families about electrophysiology procedures, including risks, benefits, and what to expect during the procedure. Address any questions or concerns and ensure informed consent is obtained.
- Procedure Assistance: Assist the EP physician and clinical team during electrophysiology procedures, including catheter ablations, pacemaker insertions, and cardioversions. Prepare and position patients for the procedure, assist with equipment setup, and anticipate the needs of the physician and team.
Requirements: - Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment. Additional certification in cardiac nursing or electrophysiology nursing is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of nursing experience in a cardiac care setting, with specific experience in electrophysiology or cardiac catheterization lab nursing preferred. Proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic monitoring is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification: Current certification in ACLS is required, with additional certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
