    We have an opening for a Controller for a privately-held Northern Colorado company. This company has wholesale revenues of $250 million and represents a myriad of products and services to enhance productivity across a wide spectrum of operations. The Controller has the opportunity to become the CFO in a relatively short time period.

    The Controller will manage the departmental day-to-day operations, overseeing organizational systems for gathering data, analyzing information, confirming the accuracy of their staff's reports and provide recommendations for improving processes and optimizing accounting systems. The Controller will be responsible for understanding all types of financial operations within the company and assisting with the implementation of departmental and financial initiatives.

    They offer a competitive starting salary ranging from $130K to $150K with a potential 20% bonus, a pension retirement plan and a matching 401K. In addition, they offer health, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, clothing allowance, life and disability coverage. There is some flexibility for a hybrid workspace.

    Essential Functions

    • Lead, manage, and mentor the company's accounting department while providing hands-on supervision for the accounting staff while ensuring best practices across all accounting functions.
    • Review accounting procedures and develop an improvement plan for the department's workflow.
    • Meet or exceed accounting deadlines.
    • Develop consistent methods for handling accounting processes while creating a feedback loop to review the efficacy of these procedures.
    • Confirm that cash, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, payables, and equity conform to GAAP principles.
    • Apply company's IT systems to optimize projects.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the company's financial software and cooperative accounting.
    • Review the accuracy of financial statements.
    • Requirements
    • BS in accounting.

    CPA or CMA preferred but not required.

    • Minimum 10+ years of experience in leadership and accounting/finance management
    • Strong accomplishment record with leading a team.
    • Demonstrated effective communication skills with company stakeholders, clients, customers, and consultants.
    • Advanced skills with accounting software systems using expert query skills to facilitate timely and accurate data extraction.
    • Preferred experience in a medium-sized industry.
    • Strong experience with applicable local, states', and federal government reporting requirements.
    • Knowledge of customer service practices and the application to the company, its customers, and vendors.
    • Knowledge of general accounting principles and concepts while staying up to date on GAAP requirements.
