The Job


Work under general supervision to investigate business questions and identify improvement opportunities by designing appropriate studies, conducting statistical analysis, and developing reports with healthcare data in areas including utilization, quality and financial performance.

Works closely with various internal departments to identify business and information needs, develop standard ad hoc reports, analysis, and dashboards, designs presentations, and provides interpretation of the result to help decision making.


You Will

  • Work with internal clients to understand business questions or needs which can be addressed with reporting and analytics.
  • Perform data extraction and data management from multiple sources.
  • Develop reports and conduct quantitative analysis to understand the trend or issues and to identify the opportunity to improve the quality of care and to manage cost and utilization.
  • Make prediction/projection on utilization, cost, and other measures under reasonable assumptions with appropriate statistical methodology.
  • Meet determined timeline for projects.
  • Responsibilities also include literature review, data quality check, QA code developed by others, and other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing technical specifications, conducting research and attending educational and technological workshops.
  • Provide interpretation of analysis result and provide recommendation through reports and presentations.
  • Actively support the achievement of SCAN's Vision and Goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

  • Preferred, but not required: Associates Degree, Masters Degree, or Ph.
D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or related field, with emphasis in quantitative analysis.

  • 35 years of data analysis experience in healthcare industry or medical research area.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data, including but not limited to membership eligibility, encounters, pharmacy, provider and financial data.
  • Knowledge of CMS Star Rating methodology, HEDIS, and HCC risk adjustment methodology preferred.
  • Proficient SAS programming skills, including SAS-BASE, Macros, and Proc SQL queries. Experience with Tableau, Python, R, MS SSRS, or Power BI is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills; Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
