Holliston Public Schools has an opportunity for an Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations to join our amazing district.


Job Summary:


Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools, the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations is responsible for the administration of all the financial aspects pertaining to the operation of the school district.

This includes budgeting, school finance, development and maintenance of accounting and internal control systems, financial reporting, purchasing and supply management, and grants accounting.

In addition, the Assistant Superintendent oversees the maintenance, food service and transportation functions.


Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in business management or accounting
  • DESE Certification: School Business Administrator
  • A minimum of five years experience including at least three years experience in a management capacity.
  • Strong technology, presentation and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of MUNIS or related accounting financial management system.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the administration of all the financial aspects pertaining to the operation of the school system.
  • Assumes responsibility for budget development and longrange financial planning. Takes the lead in developing improvements in financial management of the school, including budget methods, format and presentation.
  • Prepares analyses of program costs and methods of financing, including longrange projections or requirements.
  • Establishes and supervises a program of accounting adequate to record in detail all money and credit transactions.
  • Administer a budget control system for the district.
  • Arranges for the internal auditing of school accounts.
  • Interprets the financial concerns of the district to the community.
  • Prepares and analyzes all financial statements.
  • Provides accounting for all school and district grants.
  • Works with the community and its citizens in interpreting the financial needs and impact of the school system by providing program and financial data and analyses.
  • Acts as advisor to the Superintendent on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the district.
  • Plans and directs the management of school transportation programs.
  • Acts as payroll officer for the district.
  • Administers the overall supervision of Central Office, Maintenance, Transportation and Cafeteria staff.
  • Acts on behalf of the Superintendent to assist in the collective bargaining process with all negotiating committees.
  • Purchases by competitive bidding using the RFP/bid procurement process. Prepares all bidding documents.
  • Administers the process of procurement, receiving, storing and distribution of supplies and equipment, and to expedite as efficiently and economically as possible the purchase of the same.
  • Provide the necessary control measures to govern the issuance, and processing of all purchase orders.
  • Assist Superintendent in all aspects of school building projects.
  • Supervises and inspects the improvement and renovation or work performed by outside contractors.
  • Establishes appropriate maintenance, groundskeeping, security, and custodial requirements for each school building. Oversee and manage all aspects of custodial services.
  • Administer the efficient, safe and economical operation of the school plant and its grounds.
  • Works with individual building principals in establishing and maintaining emergency evacuation and procedures.
  • Responsible for policies and procedures for the scheduling and use of school facilities.
  • Prepare in complete detail the legal notices, bid forms, specifications and contracts required when seeking formal bids for supplies and equipment, bus transportation, insurance and maintenance work.
  • Preparation of all pupil and financial Federal and State reports.
  • Provide monthly financial statements to school administrators and the School Committee.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Public School employees of Massachusetts are required to submit their fingerprints to a National Criminal Database check.

The check will require you to pay a fee of $55 if you hold an Educator's License, or $35 if you are an unlicensed employee.

In addition to the national background check, a satisfactory Massachusetts Criminal Record Check (CORI) is required.
