Join us as the Mental Health and Wellness Specialist, working under the guidance of the Coordinator of Student Health Services.

In this role, you will spearhead the planning, execution, and assessment of a dynamic student mental health and wellness outreach program.

Your mission? To cultivate an environment that nurtures student well-being, promotes and fosters the utilization of health services, encourages peer support, and champions positive health behaviors.

Collaboration is key as you work alongside our dedicated SHS team and campus partners to lead initiatives, enhance student education, and advocate for holistic wellness practices.

This is a temporary position unless authorized to extend for a longer period depending on the need and/or performance.

Example of Duties

40% - Outreach & Community Engagement

Lead engaging tabling events and awareness campaigns, fostering dialogue around vital health topics.

Curate impactful bulletin boards and presentations; and craft compelling flyers and handouts to spark interest and awareness.

Represent Student Health Services at campus events, serving as a knowledgeable resource and advocate.

Forge strong connections with community organizations and campus stakeholders, fostering collaborative programming and holistic support systems.

30% - Program Enhancement


Collaborate with the Coordinator to develop, implement, and assess mental health and wellness programs, utilizing evidence-based strategies to empower student success.

Stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in mental health promotion, ensuring our initiatives remain cutting-edge and effective.

Conduct needs assessments, analyze program data, and prepare insightful reports to guide program refinement and optimization.

Spearhead targeted events addressing various awareness months, ensuring a comprehensive approach to student well-being.

Provide vital support for students impacted by interpersonal violence, offering advocacy, resources, and compassionate care.

20% - Student Development

Mentor and supervise student employees, volunteers, and peer educators, empowering them to drive impactful outreach strategies.

Offer individual consultations to students on diverse health and wellness topics, facilitating connections to campus and community resources.

Champion intersectional approaches to prevention, tailoring strategies to meet the unique needs of underrepresented student populations.

Foster positive relationships with campus partners, facilitating seamless referrals and collaborative initiatives.

10% - Facilitate Campus Mental Health and Wellness Communication

Cultivate a robust social media presence, amplifying our message of mental health and wellness across campus.

Provide consultative support to campus leaders and faculty, leveraging data-driven insights to inform policy and practice.

Collaborate closely with campus leadership to address emerging public health issues, ensuring a proactive and coordinated response.

Serve as a conduit for campus-wide mental health information, fostering a culture of open dialogue and support.

Front office duties may be necessary at times to maintain student access to health and wellness resources during our published business hours

Perform other job related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related field
  • OR equivalent experience/training.
Proficiency in health education theories, program assessment, and industry standards.

Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.

Exemplary communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy and collaboration.


Ability to maintain strict confidence of confidential information and perform a wide range of duties that require tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, flexibility and discretion.

Acute attention to detail.
