Description

What is a Trainer at BoxDash Logistics?

They are full time drivers who have a broad range of experience delivering to all facets of our area and familiar with all of our vehicles.

They are a wealth of information regarding the delivery process and our companies goals. They are personable and professional.

They are avid drivers:
defensive, self aware, and safe. They are self-motivated and always striving to learn.

They are gatekeepers, building a relationship with our new drivers on their first route and determining if they are the right fit for this job and our team.

They nurture those drivers into professionals through ongoing feedback and coaching. They help the company build solutions for drivers needs and reinforce our "Fantastic Plus" culture.
They help with Dispatching and on-road problem solving. They lead the team through their example and maintain a team-oriented mindset.
They have Mastered the position of Delivery Driver, and are mastering being a teacher and a leader.

What should you expect as a Trainer?
Trainers continue to do routes and help with on-road rescues, according to their current availability.

Trainers are expected to communicate their scheduling needs well in advance to ensure we have the professionals we need to train new-hires on a weekly basis.

Any day that the Trainer regularly works is a day that could be used as a Training Day for a new-hire

(Side note:

Trainers are not scheduled to train on days that they don't normally work. However, if we are lacking Trainers a certain day they may be asked if they are available.)

What do Training Days look like:

  • Training Days are the first day on the road for a new-hire, their first route, and the Trainer does a ride along with that new-hire to teach them about the job. This day is the bulk of the Trainer's unique responsibilities.
Trainers are communicated with so they know at least the day before that they will be expected to train.

They are expected to arrive at the desk by 10:10AM to meet with their trainees at 10:15AM.The Training Day usually takes the full day, as it is your best opportunity to introduce the new driver to every facet of the delivery process, and ensure they understand what is expected of them.

The Trainer is also evaluating the trainee to determine whether the trainee will be a good fit for the job and for the team.

They are evaluating:
Safety, Quality, Pace, Attitude, and other qualities that are important to this job and to our companies goals.

The Trainer goes through the whole process of the day with the Trainee, from looking at the roster and doing a Driveroo Inspection to calling Dispatch and RTSing.

The Trainer also is expected to communicate the Safety and Quality Scorecard with the Trainee so that they have a basic understanding of the scorecard and how it is measured.

Trainers are then required to write a report about the Trainee by the end of the Training Day for management to review.
