Position Summary & Responsibilities:

This position serves as the Education Program Consultant for the Career, Standards and Assessment Services Team and supports the field and agency in the area of Science.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in relevant degree field(s) as determined by the agency. Experience may be substituted for education as deemed relevant by the agency.

Preferred Skills and/or Qualifications:

• Advanced degree from an accredited university or college in relevant degree field(s) as determined by the agency;

• Knowledge of current research and issues related to the areas of science;

• Clear understanding of the interrelatedness of science to other content areas;

• Knowledge of school improvement and technical assistance;

• Broad knowledge of educational issues;

• Basic knowledge of testing/assessment principles and practices;

• Knowledge and skills related to group dynamics and team participation and facilitation;

• Effective teaming, interpersonal, staff development and facilitation skills;

• Knowledge of federal grant writing and reporting protocols;

• Skills in report writing and communication of findings to a range of audiences;

• Excellent public relation and communications skills;

• Effective problem-solving, planning, and decision making skills; and

• Ability to design and implement programs and facilitate professional learning.

Preferred Experience:

Experience as a Science teacher or related field;

Experience with middle school and/or secondary Science or related instruction; and

Experience leading systemic change.
