Alliance Technical Group is hiring for our commercial environmental laboratory in the Akron, OH area. Employees will have the opportunity to learn a variety of analytical methods and preparation techniques, some of which are very rare in the environmental industry. Alliance currently seeks to fill two position types: Laboratory Analyst and Laboratory Prep Technician. Role assignment is dependent on previous chemistry and laboratory experience.

Pay Range:

Starting at $17+/hour, depending on experience.

Laboratory Analyst Essential Functions:

Prepare solutions, standards, and reagents to conduct analysis.
Analyze samples for inorganic or organic compounds using various laboratory techniques including chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry.
Perform routine laboratory testing tasks using standard laboratory equipment such as balances, pipettes, pH meters, UV/Visible spectrophotometer, Total Organic Carbon analyzer, etc.
Maintain accurate and complete records, including logbooks.
Compile and analyze data to determine the operating efficiency of the instruments / equipment and to diagnose and repair any malfunctions.
Utilize good laboratory practices and follow Alliance's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Confer with management to conduct analyses of new methods.
Enter or upload results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Document and initiate any revisions to SOPs that are needed and submit to management.

Laboratory Prep Technician Essential Functions:

Prepare solutions, standards, and reagents to conduct analysis.
Perform routine laboratory tasks, using standard laboratory equipment, such as balances, pipettes, and pH meters.
Extract and/or digest samples according to Alliance SOPs.
Utilize good laboratory practice.
Maintain accurate and complete records, including logbooks.

Qualifications:

HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
Associate degree or higher in a physical science preferred.
General familiarity with laboratory safety, previous laboratory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both with internal customers and external vendors.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
Professional behavior and appearance.
Ability to be organized and attention to detail.
Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task, follow up on pending issues, meet deadlines and work independently
General knowledge of chemistry and lab analysis operations.
